Indian Railways Set for Transformation with Rs 32,500 Crore Boost

A remarkable milestone has been reached as the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green signal to seven multi-tracking projects, infusing an extensive investment of Rs 32,500 crore. During a recent presentation, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the potential transformation brought by these projects, aiming to redefine the efficiency and expansion capabilities of the Indian Railways.

A standout feature is the exclusive financial backing from the central government, underscoring its dedication to revitalizing the nation’s rail infrastructure.

Embracing the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, these initiatives aim to extend the current rail network by 2,339 kilometers, fostering improved connectivity across states like Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Minister Vaishnaw highlighted their interconnectedness, stressing their collective role in modernizing Indian Railways and addressing congestion while enhancing operational efficiency.
